Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! I'm very excited to start the new year, and hope you, like me, are refreshed and energized for a new year.
Buildings/Grounds/Transportation Supervisor Jeff Deeble has redesigned the bus drop-off and pick-up locations, hoping to increase safety measures in these areas. Buses will drop off at the south end of the K8 building (by the band/music rooms) and car riders will drop off at the main entrance. We ask that all staff park in the main parking lot, leaving the front parking lots for visitors/guests.
We bid farewell to long-time educator Lisa Stoneham; she made a difficult decision to retire, but will enjoy her time, I'm sure. We welcome Jessica Richards to our teaching team; she will be teaching ELA 7/8. We also welcome "back" Deb Clemons in the cafeteria; she is extremely excited to get back into the workflow.
The 2017-18 school year was wrought with several tragedies and deaths of our South Central family. Linda Jackson's husband passed away, Tracy Shepherd's son passed away and Bryan Oney's mother/Wendy Oney's mother-in-law passed away. Our community demonstrated what it's known for...caring and comfort. As a family, we helped each other out. Other SC family members continue to battle cancer/illness/hardships, and we will undoubtedly continue to show our support...because that's what we do!
The custodial staff and summer help worked very hard this summer readying the buildings and campus for Day One. I have to admit that the buildings never looked better...way to go! And the painting and facilities upgrades really add a lot to our campus. I'm sure you'll agree.
Sports teams, band members and other student organizations have been hard at it already. It is refreshing to see so many young people dedicated to these extra-curricular activities. Thank you, coaches and advisors, for your positive influence on our students.
I want to, again, express my gratitude for being selected to lead our district. I take great pride in being a part of the awesome work each of us does every day for every child. Despite local, state and federal hurdles and challenges, each of you continue to demonstrate serious commitment to ensuring our students receive the best possible educational experience that will undoubtedly prepare them to be college and/or career ready. I'm proud to be a Trojan!!
Together we can...
