SC FFA at Convention

On October 23, 2007 through October 27, 2007, sixteen FFA members from the South Central FFA Chapter attended the 80th annual National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. On their way, the group stopped in Michigan to visit the Ford Rouge factory, where they watched an F-150 created from start to finish. While in Michigan, they visited Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. While in Indiana, the students visited Fair Oaks Dairy Farm, where they toured the cow/calf birthing facilities, feeding operations, milking facilities, dairy adventure center and cheese making facilities. The South Central FFA Chapter also enjoyed their tour through Hunter's Honey Farm, where they learned about bees, their ranks, honey making, beeswax and how bees keep bacteria from infecting their hives. The students also made beeswax candles.

The students spent a great deal of time at the convention where they attended sessions, watched Dr. Rick Rigsby and Henry Winkler as keynote speakers, watched Spencer Gray - one of their own - receive his American FFA Degree (which less than .5% in the nation receive), and attended the career show and trade shows.

The students also went to the Danielle Peck/Montgomery Gentry concert and the Buckeye Bash, which is a gathering for all Ohio FFA Chapters to mix and mingle. Spencer Gray, Frank Gannett, Abby Hord, Kevin Poth, Cory Isaac, Lance Isaac, Michael Lucal, Garrett VerBurg and Kenneth Clagett, Robert Gannett, Heath Hanshaw, Justin Twary, Austin Boudinot, Jared Poth, Chance Fishbaugh, Michael Kieffer and Amber Leininger attended the 80th National FFA Convention.
