Welcome to South Central Local Schools! I am proud of the many, many facets that combine to make our school system one of the best in the area. We have a quality administrative team and faculty/staff that are committed to quality teaching and learning. We have a strong board of education that is serious about high expectations for everyone. Our curriculum is solid, with several elective course offerings at the middle and high school levels, including College Writing and Advanced American History courses offered in conjunction with Oberlin College and Animal Science course offered in conjunction with Findlay University. There is a diverse offering of extra-curricular activities available to students.
Our Local Report Card ranks the school district Effective. The K-5 building ranks Effective, the 6-8 building ranks Effective and the high school ranks Excellent. The district has shown solid gains over the past five years in trying to meet the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals set by the Ohio Department of Education, and I am very proud of our teachers' and students' hard work in meeting AYP this year! Contact your building principal or the superintendent to discuss AYP in further detail. As superintendent, I am proud of the hard work and accomplishments of our staff, students and parents.
The board of education is committed to strategic planning. The board has developed a long-range plan to address facilities improvements and upgrades. Past projects have included drainage at the high school and a new high school parking lot. The board continues addressing the heating/cooling system in the K-8 building.
Open communication is essential to the success of any organization. I welcome your conversation. Please feel comfortable to email me, telephone, or simply stop me at a school function to share your thoughts, ideas and/or concerns. Together, we will continue making South Central Local Schools one of the best school systems in the area! Go Trojans!
