South Central FFA Chapter Attends National FFA Convention
The week of October 18 through the 22, 2011 was one of the most important weeks for the FFA; National Convention! Thirteen of our FFA members including Devin Maynard, Amy Gannett, LeeAnn Montgomery, Cameron Lloyd, Karlie Conaway, Carrie Lortcher, Sara Gannett, Quincey Patterson, Rebeka Mickalaki, David Seidel, Chris Didion, Madison Ott, and Zeb Burton. On the 18th we drove down to Jungle Jim’s in Cincinnati. Then we went to our hotel to change into our Sunday best to attend the play Death by Fatal Murder. On October 19th, we went on a shopping spree at Bass Pro Shop and took a tour of Schimpff’s Confectionary Candy shop. We then went and learned about genetically modified corn at Beck’s Hybrid seed plant. After settling down from our sugar high, we changed into scarlet and grey to dance it up at the Buckeye Bash. On October 20th, we attended the opening session of the 84th National FFA Convention with key speaker Dave Roever. We changed into more casual clothes to see Blake Shelton in concert. On 21st, we attended the fourth session. That afternoon, we drove to Indiana Downs racetrack and got the V.I.P. treatment at the clubhouse. The morning of October 22rd we attended the final convention session to watch Robert Gannett, Peyton Oney, and Justin Twary receive their American FFA Degrees. We are proud of all of them for achieving this prestigious award. Only 0.2% of all FFA members receive this award. We are very delighted to have so many outstanding members. National Convention is one of our favorite memories as South Central FFA members!
