Pepperoni Roll Fundraiser
The Elementary will have a Pepperoni Roll fundraiser starting next week. Order forms will go home with the students on September 6th and the order forms are due October 6th with a delivery date of October 12th. The pepperoni rolls are only $2 each and can be bought indivdually or by the case (13 to a case). All proceeds go to the Principal's Account which goes to help pay for field trips, student incentives, etc. Any help in reaching our goal of selling 2,000 pepperoni rolls would be greatly appeciated! Please feel free to post at your work or share on Facebook. The class that sells the most rolls will have a pepperoni roll party!
Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!
I would like to thank the students, parents and staff for a great start to the 2017-2018 school year! Your help and understanding for arrival and dismissal has really made a large impact on keeping the flow of traffic moving while maintaining the safety of everyone. Thank you so much for your help with this!
We have several new staff members this year including our new secretary Mrs. Lisa Madison. We have a new resource room for the Elmentary wing, implemented breakfast in the classrooms as well as added four new Chromebook carts. These are definately exciting times at the Elementary and we look forward to a terrific school year.
One last thing parents need to be aware of is the new attendance law. We now have to keep track of minutes missed by a student including excused abscenses. Students are marked as missing minutes of school after 7:30 a.m.
If you ever have a question or concern, please feel free to reach out to me. Thank you again for your continued support of South Central Schools.
A Special Thank You to Linda Teglovic
A special Thank You goes out to Linda Teglovic who retired as the secretary of South Central Elementary. We thank her not only for her service and dedication to South Central, but also for the enormous impact she has had on our lives. Thank you for being such an awesome person-we love you!
We are pleased to announce the Open House date and time will be August 21st from 6:00pm-7:00pm. This is a great opportunity for the students to come and see their classrooms and meet all of the teachers. We look forward to seeing you all there!
The Elementary is looking to raise funds for new technology and we are looking for some help from the community. I am looking for someone local that may be interested in donating a product or service that we could raffle off to the community to help raise funds for the technology. If anyone would be interested in making a donation or have suggestions on who I could call for one, please contact me at the school at 419-752-5021. Your help is greatly appreciated! Mr. Richards
Each month we will be sending home a Reading Connection newsletter which is also on the elementary website on the left hand side of the page. The purpose is to get students involved with reading at home as well as school. Each newsletter is filled with various reading activities you can do with your child at home. We hope you will take advantage of this awesome resource!
Weather Day with the Cleveland Indians
Fourth grade participated in Weather Day with the Cleveland Indians. Students learned about weather and how it is created through various experiments. Despite the rainy weather, students were able to watch a Cleveland Indians game afterwards. For many of the students it was their first time watching the Tribe in action. Slider even came to our section and students were able to give him high fives and have their picture taken. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Schaefer for making our awesome banner! We were on the jumbotron several times because of our sign. Go Tribe!!!
Student Achiever Program
The Student Achiever Program is sponsored by the Lake Erie Monsters and Cleveland Gladiators to recognize students for various achievements in school. Each student who is nominated by the teacher for Improving Grades, Perfect Attendance or Displaying Great Leadership received a certificate for Buy One Get One tickets for either the Monsters or Gladiators. As you can tell from the picture below we had many students who received an award! Way to go!!!
Bubble Science Assembly
As you can tell from the pictures below that our Bubble Science Assembly was a huge success. Students learned how bubbles were made and the science behind it. Several students and staff members were participants in the assembly as well!
Bubble Science Assembly
We will be having our quarterly assembly to reward student behavior on April 1 at 1:45 entitle Bubble Science. Students may come to the assembly if they have no office referrals for the quarter. This will be an exciting assembly and I look forward to seeing all of the students at the assembly. Needless to say there should be some great pictures from this assembly!

Greenwich Fire Fighters Visit the South Central Elementary
The Greenwich Fire Department visited the South Central Elementary School during Fire Prevention week. The firefighters reviewed fire safety with each class. They also demonstrated safety tips including the importance of keeping fresh batteries in smoke detectors. Each class was able to take a tour of the fire trucks and equipment as well.
