Update for Seniors and their families
Amanda Lynch
Friday, May 01, 2020

Good Evening, this is Mr. Hellickson, I wanted to take a moment to address our seniors and their families with an update from our administration and senior advisors.

Your patience and attention are appreciated as I plan to cover a few very important topics with this call.  This information will be posted on the district website and Facebook page for your review.

To begin, I would first like to thank our seniors and their families for their patience and support.  Our team has been and will continue to carefully evaluate all information available to determine what the remainder of the senior calendar might look like.  After careful consideration, we wanted to communicate the following.  Please understand that this information is subject to change as further guidelines and protocols are released by governing bodies that influence our decisions.

First, given the current restrictions for schools the decision has been made to not reschedule Prom, provided there are not any unforeseen changes from the Governor.  We understand this is extremely disappointing news but it is in the best interest of the health and safety of those involved.

Secondly, the Seniors' Awards night will be conducted through a virtual video.  The video will be released to the public for viewing on Tuesday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m.  This video will be made available on the district webpage and Facebook.

Next, our team has decided to maintain the date and time of Sunday, May 24th at 2 p.m. as the date our seniors will be recognized as graduates.  However, the looks of this event will depend heavily on the restrictions and recommendations required of schools moving forward.   If possible, the hope is to conduct at least some form of an in-person recognition with as many safeguards necessary to protect those involved.  As more information is released from the governing bodies our plan will be reevaluated.  If a face to face recognition is not within the scope of possibilities, we will look to conduct graduation through a virtual video posted for public viewing on Sunday, May 24th at 2 p.m.  The video will include traditional elements that are reasonable as well as individual recognition of each graduate.

Finally, do not forget to check out the 2020 National Honor Society Induction Class on the district webpage and Facebook.  Congratulations to those students on this honor.

Once again, we know these are challenging times.  We thank our families for their patience and support.

Seniors, thank you for your class and maturity as we work through this together!

Thanks and have a great evening!
