(CEDARVILLE, Ohio)— As part of the Ohio History Connection's "Open Doors" program, Mike and Fran DeWine are opening their home in Cedarville -- the former home of Civil War journalist and vice-presidential candidate Whitelaw Reid -- to the public for tours on Sunday, September 18th, from 1pm to 3pm.
The DeWines' home, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1823, by Whitelaw's father Robert Reid. The DeWines have lived in the home since 1974.
