SOUTH CENTRAL CROSS DISTRICT MEET Our Trojan Cross Country teams competed at the District Meet in Galion. For the first time in 35 years, South Central has regional qualifiers in Cross Country! What a comeback and what an incredible milestone for our program and our Trojan community! A HUGE congratulations to our Regional Qualifiers, Anneliese Barajas Larios and Ady Stevens! These two Trojans will compete next week at Tiffin as they continue their postseason journey! This is what hard work, dedication, and believing in one another look like. We are so proud of every runner who wore the Trojan uniform and represented South Central with pride. Help us wish Anneliese and Ady the best of luck as they take on the Regional Meet! Let's go, Trojans!

Join us rain or shine for TLC’s 5th Annual Trick or Treat on the Track this Saturday, October 24th, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at South Central High School! Open to children in Pre-K through 5th grade, this family-friendly event features Halloween games and trick-or-treating along the track (all children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult). If you or your organization are interested in hosting a booth to run a game or hand out goodies, please reach out to cberry@south-central.org. Teen Leadership is still in need of candy. If you would like to donate, please get it to Mrs. Berry at the high school.

🌱 NATIONAL BOUND! 🌾 Congratulations to our South Central FFA Soils Teams on an incredible showing at the State CDE in Frankfort, Ohio!

After advancing through county and district qualifiers, eight SC members put their land evaluation skills and soil knowledge to the test against top teams from across the state.

🏗️ Urban Soils: Linnea Milavec, Karli Smith, Nash Feichtner, and Addison Rhode placed 17th in Ohio out of 47 qualifying teams for their work assessing land suitability for construction and development projects!

🚜 Rural Soils: Lauren Albright, Viola Culler, Jayna Smith, and Riley Major delivered a powerhouse performance, taking 4th PLACE IN THE STATE out of 50 teams! With this top-five finish, the team has officially qualified for the National Soils Competition in Oklahoma this coming May 2027!

We are so proud of both teams for their dedication, hard work, and outstanding representation of South Central. Wish our Rural team luck as they head to Nationals!

🥈 The JH boys brought home SECOND PLACE as Firelands Conference Runners-Up! 👏🏾 Second place is nothing to hang our heads about, especially for a program in just its second year! We are incredibly proud of how far these boys have come and what they continue to accomplish!

Four members of the South Central FFA chapter traveled to Hocking College in Nelsonville on September 27 to represent the school at the State Forestry Career Development Event. Competitors Hudson McMillin, Macy Risner, Lindsey Martin, and Claire Huffman tested their practical skills and natural resource knowledge across multiple rigorous evaluations, including a general forestry examination, Ohio tree species identification, technical equipment naming, and timber cruising calculations. Their dedication paid off with a strong 17th-place state finish. Congratulations to the team on a impressive performance at the state level!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!

Our next round of artwork comes from our newest artists, Kindergarten. They have been learning about line directions and different color families. This project focused on the Primary Colors. Inspired by the artwork of Piet Mondrian, they picked squares and rectangles and glued them down going horizontally and vertically. They then added bold black lines like Mondrian by stamping paint with cardboard. Some students thought it looked like we were building a fence around a pasture so we used our imagination to fence in our pastures on the farm to get the project done.

🌲 3RD PLACE IN DISTRICT 2! 🎉

Congratulations to the South Central FFA Forestry team for taking 3rd Place at the District 2 CDE at Pleasant Hill State Park!

Our members put their natural resource skills to the test in tree & equipment ID, timber cruising (DBH & board-foot calculations), and a general forestry exam.
